Laura da Sousa has always been captivated by the timeless sound of classic country and American rock ‘n’ roll. With musical influences like Patsy Cline, June Carter Cash, Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, and Brenda Lee, Laura is drawn to music that moves her—filled with romance, heartbreak, and an unflinching honesty that feels like a window into the soul.

Growing up in a turbulent household where domestic violence was a daily reality, Laura found solace in music from a young age. Writing songs became her way of expressing the feelings she couldn’t speak, turning her darkest emotions into melodies. “Music was always the light in the darkness,” she says, and that sense of resilience and emotional clarity has remained at the heart of her songwriting.

Laura’s music can best be described as honest, raw, and soulful. Not afraid to explore the emotions most people shy away from, she pours her experiences into songs like "Solitude Sweet," about craving time alone, and "Peek," which delves into the overwhelming emotions she often keeps inside. Her vulnerability and courage to overshare come through in every note.

Some career highlights include being invited to a prestigious songwriting retreat in North Wales by producer Duncan Lewis, where his belief in her talent was a pivotal moment. She’s also supported Americana and folk artists like Tim Grimm, Bronwynne Brent, and Rachael Sage on stage—artists who have earned acclaim in their own right.

Happiest when performing live with her band, Laura is now gearing up for the release of her latest project, an exclusive album that promises to further cement her place in the Americana scene.
