Biography
Raw. Powerful. Unapologetic.
Laura da Sousa is a UK-based indie singer-songwriter with a voice that cuts straight to the heart. Rooted in raw honesty and rich, soulful vocals, her music blends introspective storytelling with melodic hooks that stay with you. Inspired by iconic voices and fearless songwriters like Alanis Morissette, Sheryl Crow, Carole King, Brandi Carlile, Chris Cornell, and Jeff Buckley, Laura’s sound is unapologetically real—somewhere between vulnerability and power.
Having found solace in music from an early age, songwriting became her way of making sense of the world—a safe space to unravel emotion and turn it into something beautiful. Her singles, including Back to the End, Luna, Shine on Me, and Medicate, showcase her ability to craft songs that are both deeply personal and universally resonant, exploring love, loss, and the complexities of being human.
A familiar name on the BBC Introducing scene, Laura has been featured as Artist of the Week multiple times and continues to carve out her space as a bold and authentic voice in independent music. Beyond her own artistry, she is passionate about supporting independent venues and grassroots music. Alongside fellow musician Lee Atkinson, she runs a singer-songwriter night at the legendary New Adelphi Club in Hull, championing original music and creating space for emerging artists to be heard.

Dark Moon is a deeply personal story told through a gentle and melancholic acoustic folk arrangement. Poetic and image-laden lyrics paint a vivid picture while Laura’s vocals bring the emotion of it all to life. As the track progresses, mournful strings and celestial electronica come in creating an immersive atmosphere.
